Poem 020
Beneath the roots where no one strays,
A hidden thought survives the days,
The earth has closed its ancient gate,
And keeps its burden there to wait.
No lantern reaches through the ground,
No curious hand disturbs the sound,
The rain may fall, the seasons turn,
While buried embers cease to burn.
Yet somewhere in that silent deep,
Old fragments never truly sleep,
They wait beneath the layers grown,
Guarding what was never shown.
Perhaps the years will break the seal,
And let forgotten shadows heal,
Or perhaps the dark will always keep
What found its home beneath the deep.
